Derek's art work adorns the cover of the upcoming Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet #22.  If you're interested in sending for a copy or getting a subscription to the magazine, here's a link:

This issue has writing (fiction/non-fiction/poetry/comics) by Carol Emshwiller, Maureen McHugh, David J SchwartzEileen Gunn, Gwenda Bond, Abby Denson, and many others.  Great summer reading, and yet perfect for fall, winter and spring as well.

I'll be at Port Washington Public Library Tuesday Night at 7:30.  I'm not quite sure what exactly I'm going to be doing, whether reading or giving a talk or just signing.  We'll see.  Stop by if you can.

A new story, "The Seventh Expression of the Robot General," sold recently to Jonathan Strahan for the Nightshade Books, Eclipse #2

The Shadow Year is on this year's Readercon reading list and I'll be doing a half hour talk there about how I wrote the novel as will the authors of the other books on the list :
Dust
by Elizabeth Bear
City of Ashes and City of Bone by Cassandra Clare
Infoquake
and Multireal by David Louis Edelman
The Shadow Year
by Jeffrey Ford
The Philosopher's Apprentice
by James Morrow
Alchemy of Stone
by Ekaterina Sedia

Solaris
, the publisher in Poland that brought out a translation of The Physiognomy, has recently purchased both Memoranda and
The Beyond.

Thanks, Jeff, for giving me a reason to remember to renew my subscription to LCRW. (grin)

All of Derek's work I've seen on The Ditch suggests it is perfect for the little 'zine. (double-grin-of-respect)

Hey, Phil. Yeah, LCRW has always been one of my favorite magazines. I hope it's not as hot out by you as it is here in Jersey. It was around a 100 here today already and the kids aren't out of school yet.

Thankfully we've not hit the hundred (or even close) this year, but with the rains we've had mammoth humidity until this morning. Can't really have the bedroom window open when the outside air is (1) still about 68degF at night and (2) right at the dew point, so the air is supersaturated with moisture. It would just pour over the windowsill and fall onto the floor -- unfortunately we use a futon on the floor and so one feels like one is drowning. (grin)

This morning, though, we had blue skies, big huge puffy white clouds racing along to make storms somewhere else -- and cool, drier air.

Mmm...

Sorry about your hundreds.
