Just found out the other day that John Picacio will be doing the covers for the three books in the Well-Built City Trilogy from Golden Gryphon. I'm more than thrilled by this turn of events and want to thank John and Gary Turner for making this happen. I'm confident that John is going to do his usual unusually great job and so the books should be beautiful. I'd say that if you were thinking about reading this trilogy, I'd wait till these books start coming out. The first one should see print in a year.
In other Picacio related news -- the magazine, Realms of Fantasy, this month, has a six page full-color spread on John's work with an article by Karen Haber about his career and his new book Cover Story. I'm very pleased to see that the article begins with a two page, full color reproduction of the cover from The Empire of Ice Cream and also, among other paitnings includes the cover John did for The Fantasy Writer's Assistant.
In addition to the article on Picacio, the current issue of ROF has a really great essay in the Folkroots column by Midori Snyder on "The Armless Maiden."
My two stories in the running for the Locus Award went down for doughnuts last night. In the categories I had stuff, Kelly Link won for "Magic For Beginners" and Neil Gaiman won for "Sunbird" -- both terrific stories. Editor extraordinaire, Ellen Datlow, won and my favorite print fiction magazine, Fantasy and Science Fiction. Congratulations to all the winners. Here's the whole list. |
